Services

  • Periodontal Assessment

Your first visit begins with a comprehensive dental hygiene exam. The Dental Hygienist goes through your medical and dental history, along with an assessment of your oral hygiene care at home. Periodontal charting is done to assess the bone levels and a customized treatment plan is prepared according to your individual needs. Client specific goals are set to achieve the optimal oral health.

  • Radiographs

X-Rays are taken based upon client needs to assess the bone levels and also, hard deposits below the gum line.

  • Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer is the 13th most diagnosed cancer in Canada and chances of a successful treatment are likely with an early detection. It can occur on the lips, tongue, gums, cheeks lining, or deeper in jaw bones. Regular visits to a dental professional are the best defense against oral cancer as it is difficult to diagnose by an untrained eye. During each exam, we are trained to look for any signs or abnormalities in the mouth.

  • Velscope Oral Cancer Screening

This is done at initial visit and subsequent visits depending upon your individual situation.

  • Scaling and root planing

The soft (plaque) and hard (tarter/calculus) deposits from the teeth, both above and below the gum line are removed by hand instruments and ultrasonic scalers. If the plaque and calculus is left untreated, it can cause Gingivitis and can lead to Irreversible Periodontitis, which can further lead to tooth loss. The removal of plaque and calculus, and ultimately bacteria, to reduce inflammation in the mouth, is the best way to maintain healthy teeth and gums, and overall good health. Various pain modalities like Cetacaine, Oraqix or Local Anesthetic are used, if needed.

  • Dental Polishing

Dental polishing (Prophylaxis), is done to remove any extrinsic stains that teeth gather from food we eat or drink. Selective coronal polishing is done as per clients’ needs. The purpose of dental polishing is to leave the surfaces of teeth clean so that bacteria can not stick to them and you have a better chance of keeping your teeth clean during your regular home care.

  • Hot/Cold Sensitivity control

Various options are provided to help clients alleviate teeth sensitivity.

  • SDF (Silver Diamine Fluoride) application

Based upon individual needs, SDF is applied to areas on the teeth to arrest decay.

  • Teeth Whitening

After assessing your individual situation, two types of teeth whitening can be provided, take-home whitening trays and in-office Zoom teeth whitening. Some temporary sensitivity may happen after whitening. Proper home care instruction is given after whitening.

  • Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride aids in the prevention of decay as well as sensitivity by strengthening the enamel of the teeth and aiding in the re-mineralization process. Fluoride Varnish is applied just like nail paint on the teeth as per client needs.

  • Oral Health Education

The purpose of oral health education is to impart knowledge on the significance of good oral care and the importance of seeing a dental professional regularly. We emphasize on Oral-Systemic link. Our aim is to educate our clients about the importance of mechanical removal of oral biofilm via toothbrushing, flossing and use of interdental aids to reduce inflammation. We assess and consider a client’s limitations, their risks, susceptibility to disease, their personal and cultural values and preferences before formulating the goals for routine oral care. We give one on one instruction and strongly believe in prevention. Oral hygiene instruction is provided in English, Punjabi and Hindi languages based upon clients’ preference.

  • Referrals to Dentists and Specialists

If tooth decay is suspected or any other dental treatment is needed, clients are referred to the dentists and/or Specialists. If X-rays were taken, they are sent over to other offices with client’s consent.
